Co-organised by Training Centre of Forum Macau (Centro de Formação do Fórum de Macau) and City University of Macau (CityU), the Closing Ceremony of Workshop on Trade in Services of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (Portuguese: Colóquio sobre Comércio dos Serviços dos Países de Língua Portuguesa) and Workshop on Infrastructure Construction of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (Portuguese: Colóquio sobre Construção de Infra-estruturas dos Países de Língua Portuguesa) was held at the Grand Ballroom at Hotel Grand Lisboa on 9 June 2018.

The Ceremony began with speeches by Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macau, Ms Xu Yingzhen; Rector of CityU, Professor Shuguang Zhang; and Representatives of the two Workshops, Mr Vasco de Melo and Ms Irina Ribeiro; followed by the presentation of certificates to participants who have successfully completed the Workshops.

In his speech, Rector Zhang said: ‘The substantial support from the Central Government and Macau SAR Government for the development of  “One Platform, Three Centres” has further reinforced Macau’s role as a service platform between China and the PSCs’. Rector Zhang highly believed that the Workshops contributed to strengthening the opportunities for experience exchange and cooperation in trade in services and infrastructure construction between China and the PSCs.

Also attending the ceremony were Deputy Director General of the Trade Office of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Ms Chen Xing; Consul General of Angola in Macau, Ms Sofia Pegado da Silva; Consul General of Moçambique in Macau, Mr Rafael Custodio Marques; Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by the People’s Republic of China) of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macau, Mr Ding Tian; Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by the Portuguese-speaking countries) of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macau, Mr Rodrigo Brum; Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by Macau SAR Government) of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macau, Ms Glória Batalha Ung; Coordinator of the Support Office (Macau SAR Government) of Forum Macau, Ms Teresa Mok; and Representatives of the PSCs from Forum Macau.

The Workshops took place in Macau, Beijing and Zhuhai from 28 May to 9 June 2018. Both workshops brought together about 50 government officials, financial analysts, business executives, government consultants, industry representatives, architects, engineers, and urban planning technicians from the PSCs, including Brasil, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique, Portugal, and São Tomé e Príncipe.

During the visit to Beijing and Zhuhai, participants attended the 5th China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services, and visited a couple of companies, including Mi Global, Qihoo 360, Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macau, and Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge. After the trip to Beijing and Zhuhai, the participants attended a series of lectures related to the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’, trade in services and infrastructure construction cooperation between China and the PSCs; and visited a number of government departments and companies in Macau. Also, the participants had the opportunity to take part in the 9^th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum in Macau.
